About Us

Campus California TG

Campus California TG was incorporated in 2000 and its main activities are:

  • To train and send volunteers for work at deveopment projects in Southern Africa
  • To create sustainable and progressive change in the society where we live and operate
  • To take part in community programs, education and actions to fight poverty in the US
  • To operate a clothing donation program to raise funds for the Development Instructor program and to promote the need to care for the environment through reuse and recycling.

Since 2001, we have had over 300 people traveling abroad to various projects. An example of a development project with international recognition is Children’s town near Lusaka, Zambia. This project was featured in a TV series “The New Heroes”, hosted by Robert Redford. (http://www.pbs.org/opb/thenewheroes/meet/zulu.html ). All the volunteer program expenses are covered by tuition paid by the participants, fundraising done during the program, grants from The Humana Federation and the profits from the clothing donation program.

For over seven years now Campus California TG offers a service to the community by providing a clean and efficient way to collect used and unwanted clothes and recycle them instead of increasing our landfills.

The donated items are sold wholesale on the used clothing market, mostly domestically. The surplus generated by the clothing recycling program is used to further expand this program and to cover the running expenses of the volunteer training (overhead, promotion, scholarships, travel expenses etc.
